The airline company Vueling, a subsidiary of the IAG group, is taking a new step in its digital strategy by launching a completely free onboard entertainment service. Unveiled in Paris on March 18, 2026, this portal is accessible directly from passengers’ personal devices (smartphones, tablets, computers) throughout the journey.
A rich and autonomous platform
Contrary to services requiring a paid Wi-Fi connection, this platform operates through a direct connection to the onboard server of the aircraft. This system allows users to enjoy content without the need for an external internet connection. Deployed on more than half of the fleet, the service includes:
- Movies and Series: An updated catalog featuring 18 films for all audiences and 23 episodes from 12 TV series.
- Flight Tracking: An interactive 3D map for real-time itinerary visualization.
- Services and Dining: Digital access to onboard menu, boutique, and company network information.
Connectivity and destination services
To complement this offer, Vueling has partnered with Viasat to offer 15 minutes of free Internet access on a large part of its fleet through the European Aviation Network. The experience continues after landing with integration with GetYourGuide, allowing travelers to book excursions and activities directly from the portal mid-flight.
Melanie Berry, Chief Customer Officer of Vueling, emphasizes that this initiative aims to provide “more possibilities to enjoy onboard time through a simple and accessible interface.”

Analysis by the editorial team: This launch confirms the profound shift from a Low-Cost model to a hybrid LCC+ model. By offering free entertainment typically reserved for regular airlines, Vueling aims to solidify a leisure clientele increasingly demanding in digital comfort.
The most strategic aspect for industry professionals is not just the complimentary movie, but the integration of GetYourGuide. By capturing passenger attention during the flight “bubble,” Vueling optimizes its ancillary revenues while positioning itself as a major business contributor to destination activities. With over 225,000 flights operated in 2025 and a rich digital DNA, the company proves that onboard innovation has become a profitability lever as crucial as ticket prices.
