With the help of Enzo Goudal, head of the cinema in Caussade, a cinema-concert will be offered on Sunday, March 29th at 6 pm by the Planète Swing Big Band, which will make the audience swing with its eighteen musicians on stage. This spring event is a new opportunity to celebrate music, first by listening to a large jazz orchestra, and then by discovering the documentary “Once Upon a Time Michel Legrand” by David Hertzog Dessites at 8 pm. The orchestra, which brings together musicians from Tarn-et-Garonne and neighboring departments, will present a part of its repertoire covering different trends in jazz, from blues at the beginning of the 20th century to more recent compositions by musicians and composers such as Quincy Jones and Freddie Hubbard.

Especially for this evening, the big band will perform a medley combining three well-known themes by Michel Legrand, arranged by Stan Laferrière. The big band works under the direction of Sébastien Castagné, a trumpet professor in Valence d’Agen and a jazz graduate.

The film synopsis: “Music is life.” Michel Legrand entered the Paris Conservatory at the age of 10 and quickly established himself as a prodigy. Three Oscars and 75 years later, he performs for the first time at the Philharmonie de Paris in front of a captivated audience. From songs to cinema, this true virtuoso has never stopped pushing the boundaries of his art, collaborating with legends like Miles Davis, Jacques Demy, Charles Aznavour, Barbra Streisand, and Natalie Dessay. His boundless energy makes him one of the most acclaimed composers of the century, whose flamboyant melodies continue to enchant us.

Tariffs: €12 for concert and film; €8 for concert alone; regular price for film alone.
