The tourism and thermalism office of Decazeville Community offers a “Compostela Weekend” on March 28 and 29, 2026.
For several years, the tourism office of Decazeville Community, in Aveyron, has been organizing its traditional “Compostela Hike” from Livinhac-le-Haut, heralding the arrival of spring. The 2026 edition, on Saturday, March 28, will have a special flavor.
Participants will be accompanied on the famous GR 65 – the Way of Saint James of Compostela (Via Podiensis) between the charming chapel of Guirande in the municipality of Felzins and Livinhac-le-Haut, a town labeled “Communes haltes – chemins de Compostelle en France.” The selected circuit covers 9 km.
“On this section, hikers will be able to admire throughout the mythical pedestrian route, walked by thousands of pilgrims each season: the cross of the 3 bishops, the Vivre Seule refuge, the street art works of Livinhac-le-Haut, not to mention the magnificent views of the surrounding landscape,” informs Magali Soubiroux, director of the community tourism and thermalism office.
Practical information: Upon arrival, hikers will be offered a snack. In partnership with the Strada cinema, participants in the hike will also be offered by the tourism office an entry to the premiere of the film “Compostela” at La Strada the following day.
Mandatory registration at the tourism and thermalism office: 05 65 63 06 80 (Cransac-les-Thermes office) or 05 65 43 18 36 (Decazeville office). Meeting at 1:30 pm at the Livinhac-le-Haut gymnasium (next to the stadium). Free event.
“Compostela,” a film shot in Occitanie: The weekend continues on Sunday, March 29, at 5 pm, with the exclusive screening at the La Strada cinema in Decazeville of the brand new film by Yann Samuell “Compostela” featuring Alexandra Lamy and young actor Julien Le Berre.
The scenario is inspired by a true story: Fred, a woman with a troubled past, and Adam, a troubled teenager, are offered a second chance by a judge: to walk together the pilgrimage of Saint James of Compostela.
This long journey on foot becomes a human and introspective test where, as the kilometers pass, their differences clash, bonds are formed, and each discovers an unsuspected strength within themselves to rebuild and move forward in life.
The film, shot notably in Occitanie, highlights the beauty of the historic route and the transformative impact of walking.
