The Oscars are supposed to be a very glamorous event, where actors and other celebrities take turns on the red carpet in fabulous outfits. However, the backstage of this cinema-themed evening seems far from this perfect image.
Proof of this is a photo published after the ceremony. It was taken by Matt Neglia, editor-in-chief of Newt Best Picture, who stayed a little longer in the room, once the ceremony was over and the celebrities had left. In the photo, shared on X, the Dolby Theatre is shown filled with trash. On the floor, in front of the seats, water bottles, packaging, and the meal boxes of the guests can be seen.

Shocked internet users
Published on Monday morning, the photo quickly went viral and sparked reactions. Internet users described the celebrities as “hypocritical snobs”. Quotes like “The rich once again leave their trash for the poor” and “So, do people really just throw their trash everywhere at the Oscars? These celebrities are sorely lacking in education” were highlighted.
This reality is even more contradictory with the beautiful speeches on ecology from some celebrities. “It shows how most of these speeches are purely theatrical,” pointed out one internet user. However, some argue that the place shown in the photo is actually reserved for the families of the nominees. One user asks, “I am absolutely not defending this, but isn’t this a photo of the upper stands where family, friends, and guests sit? Not the nominees themselves?”

Nevertheless, we can observe the same heartbreaking scene where the stars are seated at the bottom right of the photo. But there is actually a good reason for this. “In many places, we are asked to leave our trash in place so that a team can come clean it up,” explains a user.
