The premiere of the film “Compostelle”, a highly anticipated event by the local residents, many of whom were enthusiastic, filled the Cinema Rex hall.
Excitement reached its peak before the arrival of Alexandra Lamy and Julien Leberre, the film’s main actors, accompanied by Yann Samuell, the director, all greeted with thunderous applause.
Also present were the elected officials, Eric Picard, mayor, Jean-Claude Anglars, senator, and Pascal Mazet, regional councilor, who expressed their gratitude and emphasized the positive impact of such a film for the promotion and visitation of our territories, glorified by the big screen.
During the screening, everyone could see that our villages and Aveyron were highlighted in major scenes of the film. The Chapelle des Pénitents, the castle, the church of Saint-Côme-d’Olt, and the Estaing Bridge appeared on the screen, as well Conques and the vast expanses of the Aubrac.
Alexandra Lamy and Julien Leberre shared their excellent memories of the reception they received here, and expressed their amazement at this region they didn’t know.
“It’s really heartwarming to see so many of you here and to meet extras and locals that we encountered. We were surprised by the beauty of the landscapes and small villages,” they said. It was a great adventure for the territory that began in November 2024 when Arnaud Humann, a well-known director and scout for the film, approached the tourist office in search of filming locations.
“It was a wonderful experience for our team to recommend sites that would catch the director’s attention and then have the privilege of assisting behind the scenes during the filming,” said Séverine Beauchamp, communication officer of the tourist office.
Three months later, daily contact with the film’s production team was made for accommodating the filming crews, organizing extra casting, and providing accommodation for equipment and costumes.
The official release of the film will take place on April 1st. It is a moving story with sublime landscapes that are expected to inspire many more walkers to experience the journey to Compostelle.
