It has been almost two years since Shannen Doherty left us! The American star passed away on July 13, 2024, in Malibu, at just 53 years old. She, who played Prue Halliwell in “Charmed,” succumbed to breast cancer that had spread to her bones and brain. As the actress had been ill for a long time, she had time to prepare her farewell, revealing her final wishes. To begin with, Shannen Doherty did not want to be buried. “I don’t want to be buried,” she explained in her podcast “Let’s Be Clear.”

“I want my ashes to be mixed with those of my dog and my father. I also want them to be used to plant a tree in Malibu, where I have lived so many wonderful moments with my father,” she added. In this podcast, Shannen Doherty also explained that certain people would not be welcome at her funeral. “There are people I don’t want. They would only come because it’s politically correct, and I want to get rid of that pressure. I also don’t want people to cry or attend the ceremony secretly thinking, ‘Thank God, she’s finally dead,'” the actress indicated.

Who inherited Shannen Doherty’s fortune?

As for her assets and possessions, Shannen Doherty had everything planned out. According to the magazine “7 sur 7,” the star owned a villa in Malibu worth $6 million, approximately €5.5 million. She also had $5 million, about €4.6 million. An inheritance that would have been left to her family. As the actress never had children, her assets would go to her brother Sean and his seven children. Some could also go to her mother Rosa Elizabeth Doherty. It is worth noting that her father John Tomas Doherty passed away in 2010 at the age of 66 after a long illness.

Why did her ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko try to contest their divorce?

However, Shannen Doherty’s succession was not a smooth process. Indeed, it was contested by her last and ex-husband, the photographer Kurt Iswarienko. The couple split in 2023, after his alleged infidelity. But the divorce signing was delayed because Shannen Doherty was requesting alimony from her ex-husband. In the end, she gave it up on her deathbed. But two years after the actress’s passing, Kurt Iswarienko contested their divorce, claiming that the agreement had not been properly recorded or handled by the competent jurisdiction, as reported by “People.”

The accusation came after the actress’s succession accused him of failing to meet several financial obligations. Namely, selling their property in Texas to share the sale money with the estate. The same goes for an airplane that the couple owned, part of which belongs to the estate. However, according to “TMZ,” an agreement was eventually reached between the two parties. Kurt Iswarienko can keep their Texan property on the condition that he pays the estate an amount corresponding to half the value of the house.
