Johnny Hallyday and Sylvie Vartan lived a passionate romance on stage, but also in private. After a celebrated marriage on April 12, 1965, the couple welcomed their son David on August 14, 1966. Following in the footsteps of his musician parents, David Hallyday also decided to pursue an artistic career. During an appearance on Quotidien, the musician opened up about his relationship with his mother, expressing feelings of anxiety and nervousness around her.
On August 14th, during his 59th birthday, David Hallyday received numerous messages from loved ones, including a heartfelt message from his mother Sylvie Vartan. The singer shared several photos of her son and herself on Instagram, expressing gratitude for having a son like him.
In a recent concert at the Zenith in Paris on April 10th, as part of his tour “Requiem pour un fou,” David Hallyday was joined by his mother Sylvie Vartan. She shared a photo of their reunion on Instagram, celebrating David’s achievement of a gold record for his album “Requiem pour un fou,” released in June 2024, where he revisited his late father Johnny Hallyday’s iconic songs.
French media reported that the album sold over 50,000 copies in six months, a success that both mother and son were proud of. In response, David Hallyday, who recently joined the cast of “The White Lotus,” left heart emojis in the comments.
In 1987, David Hallyday played a leading role in the film “He’s my girl,” produced by Tony Scotti, Sylvie Vartan’s husband. Despite his early success in acting, Sylvie Vartan never wanted him to pursue a full-time career in film, a decision that surprised many who believed David could have made it big in Hollywood. In an interview, Sylvie Vartan revealed she specifically didn’t want David to star in “Star Wars,” a missed opportunity for him. The revelation caught David off guard, and he admitted he had forgotten about the chance to work on the film, reacting with surprise but no regret.
