Fans of Céline Dion did not wait long to rush to the pre-sales of her concert series planned for this autumn. But if many thought they could get tickets in a price range announced between 89.50 and 298.50 euros, the reality turned out to be quite different when it came to finalizing the purchase. For some, the surprise quickly turned to frustration when faced with much higher amounts than expected. “The prices for Céline Dion are a huge joke…. Two Cat 3 tickets for 1500 euros…. Dynamic pricing is a real poison!” exclaimed one internet user on X. The issue at hand is the “dynamic pricing” system, which adjusts prices according to demand. This system is legal in France for live shows, but it should be clearly indicated to buyers. It is precisely on this point that the debate crystallizes. According to an expert interviewed by Pure Charts, the information may not have been visible enough during the sale of tickets for the Canadian singer’s tour. This situation fuels the anger of fans, convinced that they were poorly informed at the time of purchase.
Céline Dion in Paris: prices, fans’ anger… investigation launched
On Friday, April 10, 2026, our colleagues at FranceInfo announced the opening of an investigation conducted under the authority of the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs, and Fraud Control (DGCCRF). The goal is to shed light on the discrepancies between the displayed prices and the prices actually paid by some consumers. This situation quickly caught the attention of authorities, in a tense context surrounding online ticketing. In a statement relayed by the media, the DGCCRF states that “if there is a difference between the announced price and the price actually paid by the consumer, this can be considered as a misleading practice, likely to have influenced their purchasing decision.” The institution also specifies that it is already aware of these practices and indicates that “an investigation is underway in the online ticket sales sector to verify the fairness of the commercial practices of professionals in the sector.”
AXS ticketing defends itself after the controversy
Responding to the controversy, AXS, one of the ticketing platforms officially called out by the DGCCRF, claims that the concerts of the Canadian singer Céline Dion have generated an “unprecedented” demand. The platform asserts that the price discrepancies observed by several internet users in videos shared on social media are linked to a “temporary incident” affecting the caching system and certain third-party tools used during the sale, rather than a deliberate attempt to increase the displayed prices. The company states that once the problem was identified, its technical teams intervened promptly to correct the malfunction. It also adds that the affected buyers have been contacted directly to try to resolve the situation. Pending the conclusions of the investigation, the ticketing company urges customers to be patient, while fans of the singer can look forward to another highly anticipated event: the release of her new single on April 17.
