In rhythmic and captivating compositions, the 31-year-old Bordeaux native blends jazz, hip-hop, and world music, sometimes adding his lyrics, melodic lines, and improvisations on the saxophone, flute, and clarinet. He will share the stage with dancer Alexandre Sossah and drummer Émile Guillaume in a new project titled “Data,” which explores the relationship between man and machine.

“I always try to balance dance and music,” explains Titouan. “This time, we are creating a show that questions transhumanism, enhanced humans, and a world where everything is just data.”

On stage, humans and machines are interconnected: the composer plays with rhythmic and melodic loops or sound effects; the dancer’s movements trigger sounds, and the drummer’s bass hits activate basslines or light effects.

“But who controls whom?” asks Titouan. “For example, to trigger the system, the dancer must make exaggerated jerky gestures, making him, in a way, a slave to the machine. We play with this metaphor to question who is the master of whom, between humans and machines, in the modern world.”

Saturday’s performance will showcase the initial compositions of “Data” along with pieces from previous projects. “We are really in the very first version for the stage show,” says Titouan. “I want to let it come to life on stage before considering a studio version.”

Either way, for a sneak peek at the excerpts, rest assured, there will be plenty to sweat on the dance floor during the concert, which lasts over an hour.

Concert is free. Doors open at 8 pm.
