For years, Michel Cymes has been the favorite doctor of the French and was the face of the “Magazine de la santé” on France 5. But that is now a thing of the past. The ENT doctor recently hung up his stethoscope and turned to comedy, particularly in the series “La Doc et le Véto” (he plays the vet). “I want something else. To live more slowly, more serenely, to take care of myself and others more, to lean more towards acting,” he told Gala. This new life is largely written with Nathalie, his pillar for many years.
Nathalie, Michel Cymes’ wife who prefers the shadows to the spotlight, is discreet on the red carpets, of Franco-Argentine origin, and works in communications. Behind the scenes at France 5, she crossed paths with Michel Cymes: he was presenting the show “Allô Docteurs” – launched in 2007 – she was handling the show’s communication. The professional relationship turned into a lasting love story.
On air, Michel Cymes cultivates an image of a seducer, but he has often emphasized: “All that interests me is to seduce my wife,” he explained to TV Grandes Chaînes in 2013. Nathalie, on the other hand, avoids overexposure and only appears at rare events. This privacy is no coincidence. “I want to protect my wife and three children. I am willing to be in the media, but not in the gossip columns. You won’t see me at home with my family,” Michel Cymes explained. His private life remains his secret garden, where Nathalie holds a central place.
Thirty years of love, a wedding in Provence, and a little boy named Elias. Before marrying Nathalie, Michel Cymes had already experienced a first marriage from which his two sons, Romain and Martin, were born. With Nathalie, he welcomed a third son, Elias, born in 2011. The doctor says he devotes himself to his family from Friday night to Monday morning. “I am demanding. I want respect and results. But that doesn’t stop the laughter,” he said. He also describes himself as a very anxious father. “I am a very anxious dad. I need my eldest to call me 200 times a day to tell me where he is and what he’s doing. It reassures me,” he confessed. This contrasts with Nathalie’s sobriety, but it speaks volumes about the importance of family in their balance.
The couple eventually formalized their union on May 23, 2015, in Entrecasteaux, Var, with a very festive wedding. The proposal, on the other hand, was less perfect: on his knees, Michel Cymes received a simple “Uh, yeah” from Nathalie, before licking his wounds: “Thank you for your reaction, I’ve been thinking about it for years and you just say that!” he recounted in 2017. A scene that has become a funny memory.
How Michel Cymes and Nathalie keep their relationship strong. Michel Cymes sums up the solidity of their relationship as follows: “The secret of a long-lasting love is tolerance, especially Nathalie’s tolerance towards me, and perseverance to hold on when the building wobbles,” he told Gala in 2024. He added, “This is what I wanted to pass on to my children: respect, politeness, and of course, a form of determination to fulfill their desires.”
