On Saturday, April 11th at 8:30pm at the Vauban cinema-theater on Place Castellane, the Choro-Arte association is hosting a concert featuring La roda de Choro-Arte. La roda is a group of passionate musicians who gather weekly in Port-Vendres to practice and spread one of the most beautiful genres of Brazilian music: choro. The ensemble includes various instruments (7-string guitar, acoustic guitar, accordion, violin, flute, cavaquinho, pandeiro, bass) and vocals, taking listeners on a journey through the history of this music which combines European dances (polka, mazurka, Scottish and waltz) with Afro-Brazilian and Amerindian rhythms.

Gathered around the talented Brazilian and Port-Vendres artist, Rômulo Gonçalves, also known as Rômulus do Brasil, a professional musician, the different instrumentalists and singers of the Choro-Arte association invite you to discover choro, one of the oldest forms of Brazilian popular music that is complex, free, joyful, and lively: its melodic jumps and frantic modulations are the key ingredients of this instrumental music that emerged in the late 19th century in the salons.

Admission is 10 euros, free for members and children under 12. Reservations at 06 08 71 72 77.
