From Marilyn Monroe to Chabrol: the Brive film festival puts cinema in medium format

The Brive Film Festival, from April 20 to 25, is dedicated to medium-length films. 26 films are presented in the official competition.

Hlynur Pälmason (Godland), Mohammad Rasoulof (Les Graines du figuier sauvage), Bertrand Mandico (Conann)… These directors are known for their feature films. Festival attendees in Brive will also have the opportunity to discover their medium-length films (ranging from 30 to 59 minutes). This 23rd edition, taking place from April 20 to 25, will showcase 26 films in competition.

Among the parallel selections, there will be a retrospective of adventure cinema from Southern and Eastern countries, ranging from sword films to horror. Notable screenings include the opening ceremony featuring Les Reines du music-hall by Phil Karlson, one of Marilyn Monroe’s early roles in cinema (April 20 at 8pm at Cinema Rex). In a musical theme, the film-concert Au secours! by Abel Gance, with a finale accompanied by Léonor Clary (April 23 at 9pm at the Brive Theater). There will also be a focus on Claude Chabrol, highlighting his films from the series “Histoires insolites” dedicated to strangeness in everyday life (April 22 at 5:30pm at Cinema Rex). The ticket price for the show is a flat rate of 4 euros.
