The new season of “Mask Singer” is going to result in “a world premiere”. A celebrity will participate in the competition… without a mask. Every week, she will present herself to the jury in a different costume!
Chantal Ladesou, Kev Adams, Laurent Ruquier, and Michaël Youn have already put on their detective costumes. On April 24, TF1 will launch the ninth edition of “Mask Singer” with great fanfare, and the channel promises: it will be “the season of all novelties”. The lineup of participating celebrities is announced as “prestigious” with winners of the César, Victoire de la Musique, Molières, Grammy Awards, NRJ Music Awards, MTV Music Awards, and the Golden Bear award! Even more exciting, among the two international stars who have agreed to participate is an artist who has performed at the Super Bowl halftime show. And that’s not all! This year, a mysterious personality will sing in front of the jury… without a mask.
“Yes, you read that right: a masked celebrity will not be masked. The idea, whimsical, was detailed by the producer Anthony Meunier to our colleagues at Puremédias during a press conference. “We have this enormous novelty which is a world premiere and it’s quite brilliant! Throughout the adventure, we have a celebrity who will come on stage without a mask to perform in front of Laurent Ruquier, Kev Adams, Chantal Ladesou, and Michaël Youn. We found a personality who will take on this crazy challenge, because it’s really crazy!” he confided.
“Despite the eve of the shoot, everything almost got canceled… ‘In fact, it was a good idea on paper then we were very, very scared. I almost called TF1 saying, ‘Listen, let’s put a mask back on her because it’s going to be ridiculous.’ In the end, it works extremely well,” assures the television man. This additional fact is even one of the attractions of this new season: “The investigators are going crazy, it’s the thing that drives them the most crazy. And even more for Camille, because he is actually 5cm away from the character. This one will change makeup and costume in every episode, which represents a very strong renewal.”
Other changes planned for this new season? The launch will be spread over three different episodes to give viewers the opportunity to better discover the incredible costumes of the 23 characters (!), such as the Cyborg, the Hedgehog, the Bouquet, or… the Russian Dolls. “With this costume that multiplies, the investigators never know when it’s going to stop,” we are told. Who will succeed singer Ycare, the last winner hidden as the Rabbit, and win the victory?
