The 4th edition of “Ca jase à Châlons”, organized by Musiques sur la ville, Pianodéon, as well as many local businesses and partners, will bring its share of meetings and concerts. It will open this Tuesday, April 7 in two stages. First, a jazz workshop with the conservatory (at 6 pm, Axe musique store). Then, an inaugural evening at the Mess des entrepreneurs (at 8 pm) with the trio of pianist Rémi Panossian. These artists travel the stages of the world – with more than 800 dates in 40 countries to their credit! – and clearly venture off the beaten path: contemporary jazz, groove, pop, and melodic lyricism.
Music creation by the Chien Assis collective
No less than fifteen appointments will also punctuate the festival until April 11, all over the city. In the board game shop Le chemin des fées, for example (Wednesday, April 8), with family workshops by the Chien Assis collective (starting at 3 pm) and then an improvised musical creation (at 5 pm), or at Joseph Perrier champagne house (also on April 8, at 6:30 pm) with the trio of Jody Sternberg. The vocalist and multi-instrumentalist is joined by guitarist Christian Brun and Australian trumpeter David Lewis, co-founder of Paris Combo, who has already come to Châlons several times.
A masterclass with New York bassist Darryl Hall
Other highlights not to be missed (non-exhaustive suggestions, of course!): the gypsy jazz of Nitcho Reinhardt and Christophe Lartilleux (April 10 at ABC), the cheerful compositions of the Swing Shady quartet (April 10 in the boutiques of rue Thiers), and a meeting with New York bassist Darryl Hall (Saturday, April 11 at Axe musique), who has, among other things, played alongside Michel Legrand and Didier Lockwood.
