Vibrant colors and a whole imaginary world made up of eggs, hens, chicks, and giant rabbits adorning the Place de la République in Barcarès: it is in this fabulous setting that would not have been disowned by Walt Disney that the enchanted park of the first Z’Oeufforiques of the name opened (free entry) for a month this Saturday, April 4, 2026. Big success.

Angelica, 8 years old, and her “big” brother Felix, 10 years old, open their eyes wide like saucers! Holding hands with their parents, Pol and Marta, these little Géronais are fascinated by the show and the colorful decorations that greet visitors at their entrance to Place de la République in Barcarès. “We come regularly every winter to the Village de Noël and the kids love it! They always want to leave with a stuffed animal. So we thought we would discover Barcarès this time in spring… And here we are at the Z’Oeufforiques. And we do not regret it!” the parents say smiling in perfect French.

It must be admitted that this “spring event” started under the best auspices: 26 degrees in the sun, not a breath of air, and on the horizon a still sea of deep blue. On this April 4th, giant rabbits, hens, gigantic eggs, and lamp-post lampposts, sofas, couches, all in ceramic with solid color, multicolored, decorated with dots, stripes, floral patterns… opened the festivities. This decor, which significantly refers to childhood, seems inspired by a mix of the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the animated film Alice in Wonderland, and illustrated books that we sometimes take pleasure in leafing through. Our inner child is solicited at every step.

Thus Ludovic and Géraldine, young parents from Perpignan with a 4-year-old Camille, say they are “amazed by the giant eggs”, and the dad compares them to… Fabergé eggs! Camille wants to touch everything, especially the fake chicks. A little further away, people take photos sitting in the egg-chair made of faux chocolate. Or under the arches and gateways decorated with eggs, beautiful like giant toys.

A month of entertainment, games, and laughter

Throughout this festive and joyful month, animations and shows will follow one another. It will go on like this until May 3, the closing date of this enchanted park. On the “menu” until May: giant omelet and the unmissable egg hunt (Sunday, April 5), markets and stands, flower battles (scattering the square, they also burst with their true colors), children’s workshops, “Ecolo Rigolo” show, concerts and “spring-summer” fashion shows, fanfare, giant wooden games, and the “Grandeur Nature” parade with the Cielo Company.

An animation not to be missed either: on Sunday, April 12, the Z’Oeufs Lympiades will take place, featuring skill, reflection, and coordination challenges for young and old. And of course, chocolate rewards as the final touch!
