Proof of an enduring enthusiasm, the two Parisian concerts at the Palais des Congrčs were sold out in less than ten minutes, according to its historical producer, Jean-Luc Azoulay. A tour will then pass through Lyon, Bordeaux, Nantes, and Brussels. At 72 years old, Dorothée shared her joy in “finding friends” – a name given to her fans – to “say to myself that it’s never over.”
A highly anticipated return to the stage
Interview question: Return after 16 years since your 59th Bercy, did you miss the stage?
Interview answer: “I had too much pressure from the ‘friends’, a very beautiful, very strong pressure, for me to go back on stage, a lot of letters in this sense, not to mention the people in the street, and even more since the nice tribute TF1 paid me last year (4.4 million viewers, NDLR). So I obeyed, with pleasure of course! Reunions as if it were obvious, to say to myself that it’s never over, carried by all the moving love that the public has shown me for so long. I tremble, just saying it.”
Interview question: Do you still feel nervous, holding the female record for the largest number of Zénith concerts (52 concerts), and tens of thousands of hours of broadcasts?
Interview answer: “The nerves are still there, but once on stage, it is positive. Before, it’s a bit scary, but afterwards, it’s energy, that nervousness.”
Interview question: Your audience today brings together several generations. How do you feel?
Interview answer: “I am touched by this loyalty, from generation to generation. Everything I have done, I have done sincerely, with all my heart. This tour is an opportunity to bring together generations of ‘Récré A2’ and ‘Club Dorothée’ along with the children and grandchildren of the ‘friends’ of that time.”
Interview question: What will this new show look like?
Interview answer: “There will of course be the greatest hits, but also lots of surprises and probably a lot of emotion. There will be 20 of us on stage, including nine musicians, dancers, and choir members, in Paris as well as on the tour. I will also be joined by those who surrounded me for the ‘Club Dorothée’.”
Interview question: Some programs in this show, including the mangas, were criticized. What memory do you have of this?
Interview answer: “It hurt… It was free criticism, as often happens with what is simply new. The important thing for me was the reactions of the viewers. Patience has now paid off. Nicky Larson or Dragon Ball have become movies. With ‘Terre, Attention, Danger’ or ‘Club Sciences’ (shows she co-hosted in the 90s, NDLR), we were also doing education and children of that time have told me that they became scientists thanks to the ‘Club Dorothée’. Anyway, today, the channels have put an end to children’s programs.”
Interview question: Is a new album planned?
Interview answer: “Let me start over! (Laughs) The doors are never closed, never. It takes the right idea and I only work with my heart.”
Interview question: You have played in several films like ‘L’Amour en fuite’ by François Truffaut and ‘Pile ou face’ by Robert Enrico. Could you come back to the cinema?
