Jumpers is a hit, but Pixar’s beaver could quickly be overtaken by a small rodent and its feathered companion. Netflix has just shared the trailer for Swapped, its new animated film halfway between Freaky Friday and The Wild Robot. Michael B.Jordan, who lends his voice to the main character, presents this Skydance production arriving on May 1st in the streaming giant’s catalog.
The story revolves around a small furry creature who finds itself trapped in the body of a bird against its will. The two animals stumbled upon a mystical plant and must now collaborate if they want to regain their physical form. But it’s not easy when everything leads these animals to dislike each other. They still embark on the greatest adventure of their lives.
A acclaimed director at the helm
Swapped is the result of a great catch for Skydance Media. In February 2018, the studio signed a multi-year contract with Nathan Greno. The director of Tangled reunited with John Lasseter, former head of creative at Pixar and Walt Disney Studio. The editor of Wreck-It Ralph, Tim Mertens, has also joined the project. These former Disney employees are eagerly awaited by animation film fans. This is especially true in the industry, where it’s all or nothing at Netflix.
The red N firm has formed beautiful partnerships with animation studios. The most successful has undoubtedly been the one with Sony, which brought forth The Mitchells vs. The Machines and the phenomenon KPop Demon Hunters. Elsewhere, Elliot and the Curse (Dreamworks) was offered to complete indifference. This was also the case with In Your Dreams which was broadcast shortly before the holidays in 2025. Swapped hopes to rely on the reputation of Nathan Greno and Michael B.Jordan to create a surprise.
Find out on Netflix from May 1st if this opponent to Jumpers will manage to make a breakthrough and reach the highest ranks of the platform.
