A few weeks before its return, “Mask Singer” promises to shake up its own codes. Season 9, expected on Friday, April 24 at 9:10 pm on TF1, will once again focus on what has given the program its uniqueness from the beginning: spectacular costumes, performances tailored for grand entertainment, and a quartet of investigators. Camille Combal will return to host, alongside Kev Adams, Chantal Ladesou, Laurent Ruquier, and Michaël Youn. This time, the production clearly wants to shake up the rules. Indeed, one of the major innovations of this edition is a completely crazy idea: for the first time in the history of “Mask Singer,” a celebrity will perform without a mask. However, this character, called the Clown, will appear disguised by professional makeup artists and will change appearance in each episode. This will further confuse the investigators!

During the press conference, producer Anthony Meunier described how much doubt this challenge had caused him. “We have this huge innovation that is a world first and is quite brilliant!” he said, before admitting “to have been very, very afraid.” Ultimately, the experience reportedly greatly impressed the production team. “It works extremely well and the investigators are going crazy,” he said.

A five-star cast for this 9th season

In terms of casting, the channel announces 23 celebrities, including two international stars. The channel even promises “the most prestigious cast in history,” featuring personalities awarded at the César Awards, the Victoires de la Musique, the Molières, the Grammy Awards, the NRJ Music Awards, and the MTV Music Awards. Among the revealed costumes, viewers will recognize characters such as the Mummy, the Owl, the Cyborg, the Panther, the Werewolf, the Donkey, the Rock, the Bouquet, the Venetian, and the Russian Dolls.

Another change: the game will become tougher for the investigators. This season, each incorrect guess will make them lose a point, shaking up the competition for the famous predictions. With new mechanics and a colorful cast, one question arises: who will succeed Ycare this year?
