John Travolta, with three films presented at the Cannes Film Festival, “Pulp Fiction” (1994) and “She’s so Lovely” (1997) in competition, “Primary Colors” (1998) out of competition, a Palme d’Or, two Oscar nominations, and three Golden Globes and Emmy Awards, has become an iconic figure in pop culture, particularly through cult films such as “Saturday Night Fever” (1977), “Grease” (1978), “Blow Out” (1981), or “Hairspray” (2007).

Alongside an eclectic filmography of over 70 films in half a century, a long-time passion for the 72-year-old actor is aviation. As a child, he loved watching planes take off from New York’s LaGuardia Airport near his home. He began flying at just 15, got his first pilot’s license at 22, and has since obtained various licenses. John Travolta is qualified to pilot Boeing 707, 737, 747, and Bombardier Global Express aircraft and was the first private pilot to fly an Airbus A380. With over 9000 flight hours, the actor also owns several aircraft and even piloted in two of his films: “Look Who’s Talking” (1989) and “Broken Arrow” (1996).

Over 30 years ago, this passion led him to write and illustrate a book for all ages for his son. Inspired by John Travolta’s childhood memories, from his first flight to the unforgettable people and stories he has accumulated over the years, the story unfolds as a nostalgic journey into the golden age of commercial aviation. Jeff (played by Clark Shotwell), a young boy passionate about aviation, takes off alongside his mother (Kelly Eviston-Quinnett) on a one-way trip to Hollywood, crossing the United States. What could have been a simple flight becomes the journey of a lifetime. Between the meals served on board, the attention of the flight attendants (portrayed by Ella Bleu Travolta and Olga Hoffmann), unexpected stopovers, colorful passengers, and a memorable visit to first class, the adventure provides moments as magical as they are surprising, shaping the destiny of the boy forever.

Written, directed, and narrated by John Travolta, “Night Flight to Los Angeles” is a production of JTP Films Inc and Kids At Play. The film is produced by John Travolta via JTP Productions, as well as by Jason Berger and Amy Laslett of Kids at Play.

The film will be available on Apple TV on May 29, 2026.
