The incident was shared on social media by a customer after visiting the Happy Dad Tea restaurant in the city of Haikou, Hainan province (China).

According to a customer, a carefully set table, surrounded by a railing with the label “VIP Table,” was presented. Upon closer inspection, they noticed the names of several celebrities. These were “idols” participating in the popular reality TV show Keep Running, an adaptation of the famous South Korean program Running Man, as reported by 8days.

Apparently, this was the meal eaten during filming. The restaurant had kept all the leftovers and displayed them on the table. Customers reported that the dishes were left out all night and even small insects were found stuck to them.

“They wanted to make it easy for fans to take photos, but leaving food out all night like that is really unsanitary,” wrote the person.

Images of the scene quickly spread online, sparking various reactions.

Some internet users suggested that the restaurant wanted to create an “experience for fans.” However, the majority criticized this approach, deeming it unhygienic and unnecessary.

Others also claim that, to attract customers, the restaurant could adopt an original culinary concept or create dishes inspired by celebrities, instead of keeping leftovers.

Following this controversial incident, the restaurant issued an apology and quickly cleaned the area in question.

A restaurant representative stated that it was an oversight in implementing the concept.

“Our staff didn’t think it through enough. Initially, we simply wanted to create a photo space for fans, but we didn’t anticipate hygiene issues like the presence of flies and mosquitoes. We have now cleaned and disinfected the entire area,” said a restaurant representative.
