Capable of playing both baroque music by Rameau and Spanish serenades, guitarist Raphaël Feuillêtre, born in Djibouti and trained in France, performs in all the major concert halls worldwide. He will be the only guitarist invited to the Easter Festival, where he will present a recital mixing baroque and French pieces originally written for keyboard with Spanish and South American works.

You are the only guitarist at this edition of the Easter Festival. How does that make you feel?

It is extremely honoring. When you are a guitarist, you want to represent your instrument, to be its ambassador. The guitar is still not prominent enough in the world of classical music, but that is changing. Playing at such a renowned festival contributes to this.

Was there a revelation that sparked your vocation?

Not a specific moment, no. At 6 or 7 years old, I wanted to play the guitar and make it my profession. That desire never left me. I started at the conservatory at 9 years old and fell in love with the classical repertoire, the instrument, its sound. I was musically educated with classical music, and that is what touched me.

Who inspired and molded you?
