In partnership with the Crossroads Theater in Perpignan, the Signenchant association will be supporting the Lisa Jazz Trio group on stage this Friday, April 3rd at 7:30 PM.
The Perpignan-based association Signenchant aims to make music accessible through French Sign Language (LSF). On Friday, April 3rd, two of its members will take the stage at the Crossroads Theater in Perpignan to accompany the opening act of the evening with the Lisa Jazz Trio. “When they perform, they ask us to make music accessible to the deaf. It’s an opportunity for them to experience incredible moments, but also for the audience to discover sign language,” explains Sandrine Tremerie, president of the Signenchant association.
The trio will blend music and sign language around the piano (Julien Lebart) and double bass (Francis Adam) while showcasing the voice of singer Isabelle Durel.
The association’s mission includes translating and interpreting songs in LSF on stage, as well as conducting sign language song workshops and raising awareness about deafness and deaf culture in schools and recreational centers. For this Friday’s concert, the members will sign five French songs from the trio, with two people on stage, one deaf and one hearing. “For the past 10 years, we have also been supporting the Krazy Family led by Kali Maalem. This choir was one of the first to ask us to interpret songs,” adds the president. The association will also be by their side this Sunday, April 5th in Argelès-sur-Mer for the American Festival, at the beach center at 2:30 PM and 5 PM.
