Four years ago today, Dave feared for his life. On January 25, 2022, the singer of “Mon coeur est malade” had a bad fall at his home in Villa Montmorency in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. Injured and taken to the hospital, Patrick Loiseau’s long-time partner suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was in a coma for four days. Upon his return home, Wouter Otto Levenbach, his real name, experienced complicated days. Imbalance, memory problems, complete loss of taste and smell… this domestic accident left him with deep scars that still affect him today.
On France Bleu radio, Dave’s long-time friend Daniel Auteuil spoke about the accident that befell the artist he has known for many years. “He is doing well. He went through a lot, but he is going to get better and I am very happy about that,” said the ex-husband of Emmanuelle Béart, trying to reassure.
Dave opens up about the “fraternal ties” that bind him to Daniel Auteuil, whom he met in the 70s. It’s a beautiful story of friendship that has endured over the years. They first met in 1971 during the musical comedy Godspell and immediately formed a reciprocal friendship. Despite the passage of time, their bond remains strong and fills an emotional void for Dave.
In an interview with Europe 1, Daniel Auteuil recounted the start of their friendship with a humorous anecdote about asking Dave for a loan. However, Dave refuted his friend’s version on the show C à Vous, claiming he had earned more money before Daniel due to his singing career. With his characteristic humor, Dave offered to lend money to Daniel anytime he needed.
