Kristina and Philippe Holmes present a program of Latin American music. Kristina explains: “We explore a rich and varied repertoire, ranging from classical music to current songs, while nourishing our artistic sensibility through musical research inspired by the traditions of different countries.” Discovered in Vallespir by Ian Stephens, president of the Association for Culture and Arts, Kristina combines training as a pianist, possesses a mezzo-soprano voice, and plays the guitar brilliantly. Her experience? Years in conservatory, a repertoire of operas, concerts, encounters with jazz, blues, pop, rock, and South American music.

Philippe Holmes, born in Stuttgart, grew up in Washington, studied at university, composed, played, and produced music ranging from classical to hip-hop, led groups from Washington to Los Angeles, before settling in New Mexico and developing a repertoire for classical guitar inspired by that of Andrés Segovia. Arriving in France in 2011, he gave classical guitar recitals in churches, expanded to pop rock, discovered music from the East, and became interested in the musical rhythms of Spain and Gypsy culture, before returning to the United States. In 2020, he returned to Vallespir and has been performing with The Rural Suspects since.

This duo, who performed at Casa Cap d’Ona in Céret, will present their concert program.
