On Wednesday, March 25, at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport, Gims was arrested by agents of the National Judicial Customs Service (SNDJ). They wanted to speak with the rapper after he got off the plane about a case of organized money laundering. This Friday, after 48 hours of custody, the star was placed under judicial supervision along with two of his colleagues: one serving as a “butler” for the rapper and the other as a “secretary who takes care of everything” details Le Parisien in an article published on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Gims under judicial supervision: what are the suspicions of the investigators?
The 39-year-old rapper is suspected of being connected to a criminal organization that, between 2019 and 2025, allegedly financed multiple national and international operations totaling 319 million euros. 9 other people are mentioned in this case related to a luxury real estate project in Marrakech: the Sunset Village Private Residences, an ultra-luxurious complex of 118 villas with artificial lagoons. Regarding this large-scale project, the rapper – who has been living in Marrakech for ten years – had been promoting it since 2025.
The National Anti-Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office (PNACO) is questioning this project, suspected of being used as a cover to launder funds of dubious origin. Meanwhile, as reported by Le Parisien, Gims denies the allegations against him. “Gims entrusted his money to people who made transfers. But with his 250 concerts in 2025, he didn’t have time to get involved in these matters,” a source close to the case said.
Gims placed under judicial supervision: the rapper still free to travel
For now, Gims has been released and has no restrictions on his movements due to his international activities. However, he must inform the investigating magistrate of his every move, as specified by Purepeople. This weekend, he is expected in Abidjan (Ivory Coast). While he can continue to perform concerts worldwide, Gims must still “pay a bail” set at 1.5 million euros before September, as journalist Laurent Valgigui revealed. He must also stay away from certain individuals determined by the investigating judges. For now, Gims remains presumed innocent of the allegations against him in this case.
