For its 9th edition, the Nice Classic Festival (July 21-August 9, 2026) will once again take place at the Cimiez Cloister with a unique theme: a meeting between classical music and the world of fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent.

Under the centuries-old vaults of the Cimiez monastery, elegance will be the keyword. While the Nice Classic Festival has long been a cornerstone of the azure skies, the 2026 edition takes a bold step by choosing the spirit of Yves Saint Laurent as its guiding thread. A tribute that is not accidental and is part of a cultural synergy with the neighboring Matisse Museum.

The famous couturier, whose work has often been influenced by painting, will thus be at the heart of the musical interpretations. The idea is to create a sensory bridge between the harmonies of chamber music and Saint Laurent’s visionary aesthetic. In this intimate setting, the audience will be invited to feel the modernity and passion that unite the master of couture with the painter Henri Matisse, the illustrious resident of Nice.

An official presentation expected at the end of May

While mystery still surrounds the exact works that will resonate in the cloister, the veil will be lifted very soon.

Marie-Joséphe Jude, artistic director of the festival and a figure in the classical scene, will present the detailed program on Tuesday, May 27.

“From elegance to avant-garde, YSL was one of those who knew how to combine purity and audacity, perfect line and taste for risk, heritage and invention.”

“Haute couture, like composition, is an art where every detail is designed to create a unique harmony, a deep emotion.”

With this historical heritage and artistic audacity, this 9th edition should enhance the cultural vitality of the city. Music lovers and art enthusiasts now eagerly await to see how the strings and pianos will translate the silhouettes and vibrant colors that have marked the history of the 20th century.
