On Sunday, March 29th, at 1:30 pm, the animal rights defense association PAZ will be staging a demonstration in front of the Pathé cinema on Esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle in Rennes. This action coincides with the premiere of the film “L’Enfant du désert” by Gilles de Maistre.

During the event, activists will display signs and hand out leaflets to raise awareness about hidden animal exploitation in films such as those by Gilles de Maistre. The production of “L’Enfant du désert” reportedly used seven ostriches, seven ostrich chicks, two fennecs, a scorpion, a turtle, a bearded vulture, and even a cheetah.

PAZ criticizes the use of wild animals for entertainment, highlighting the hypocrisy of filmmakers who condemn such practices on screen while engaging in them behind the scenes. The association sees this as exploiting captive and trained animals for profit under the guise of animal welfare advocacy.

PAZ’s protest aims to shed light on the exploitation of wild animals in captivity for the film industry.
