During the conference, Dr. Nguyen Van Dung, a renowned physician and director of the city’s rehabilitation hospital, stated that spinal cord injuries are a serious condition caused by various factors such as road accidents, falls, or non-traumatic conditions like tumors, degeneration, vascular diseases, infections, or congenital malformations.
This type of injury significantly affects the patient’s motor function and quality of life. Pressure sores, in particular, are a common complication and pose many risks if not effectively managed.
During the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Van Dung presented a multidisciplinary rehabilitation model for patients with spinal cord injuries. This model, involving multiple specialties, implements a rigorous treatment process, from admission and assessment to intervention and community support, thus helping patients regain mobility, stabilize their mental state, and reintegrate into society.
This workshop served as a scientific forum to update knowledge, share experiences, and discuss diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation solutions for patients with spinal cord injuries. Many in-depth presentations offered practical perspectives, contributing to improving treatment efficiency, especially in primary health care.
