The Egyptian ambassador to Kenya, Hatem Yousri, stated that Egyptian foreign policy is undergoing a qualitative transformation in accordance with the directives of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdel-Ati.
In exclusive statements to the Middle East News Agency (MENA), Mr. Yousri mentioned that the political direction focuses on strategic balance in relationships and enhancing the role of diplomacy in development while maximizing mutual interests and benefits between Egypt and other countries worldwide.
During his participation in the COMESA Investment Forum in Nairobi from March 24 to 27, Mr. Yousri highlighted that Egyptian diplomacy has become a model for achieving economic benefits and strengthening strategic partnerships through dynamic actions to preserve Egypt’s strategic interests.
He emphasized that the relationship between Egypt and Kenya serves as a strong model of integrated African partnerships, reflecting the deep historical and strategic ties between the two countries, covering various sectors such as political, economic, cultural, and sports cooperation, as well as joint coordination on regional and international issues of common interest.
Yousri explained that enhancing economic ties with Kenya is a top priority for Egypt in its relations with African countries due to the direct link to national security and strategic interests. He noted that Kenya is a strategic partner enabling mutual benefits and common interests, showcasing active cooperation of Egypt in Africa.
Moreover, the Egyptian Embassy in Nairobi received over 37 Egyptian delegation visits in various fields during the past six months, demonstrating the growth of relations between the two countries and the increasing focus on economic cooperation and investment opportunities.
Regarding Egypt’s participation in the COMESA Forum, Mr. Yousri mentioned that the Egyptian delegation is the largest among African delegations present, consisting of officials, parliamentarians, and over 18 businesspersons representing various economic sectors aiming to strengthen Egyptian exports and investments in Kenya.
Yousri highlighted Kenya’s strategic position in East Africa as a significant gateway for landlocked East and Central African countries, emphasizing Egypt’s commitment to boosting current economic relations with Kenya and facilitating Egyptian exports to the Kenyan market and neighboring markets. He also mentioned robust investment opportunities for Egyptian investors in various sectors, especially in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, construction, energy, and skills development in Kenya.
