A duo from Cantabria, Casapalma, will perform on the parvis of Atalante. Around fifteen documentaries, short and feature films will be screened, along with three concerts (two of which are free and outdoors), a DJ set of Spanish music, filmmaker meetings, and an exhibition. Over four days, the Bayonne art house team will showcase the vibrant energy of this young independent cinema scene. Sylvie Larroque mentions the enormous creativity of this scene, highlighting talents like Eva Libertad, Guillermo Galoe, and Carla Simón. The audience at the festival will witness two short films by the documentary filmmaker Gala Hernández López on the opening night, followed by a concert by the duo Casapalma. The evening will end with the premiere of Eva Libertad’s feature film “Sorda”, a story about a couple navigating life with their first child. Miriam Garlo, who plays the lead role and is also deaf, won the Goya for best promising actress. The festival will also feature films like “Maspalomas” and “Romería” by Carla Simón, closing the event in Bayonne. “Maspalomas” explores themes of homosexuality in a nuanced manner, while “Romería” follows a young girl searching for her parents lost to AIDS. Both films offer intimate insights into complex narratives.
