JAKARTA – Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that President Prabowo Subianto’s meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim lasted three hours as part of the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H celebration and discussed geopolitical dynamics and global strategic issues.
“The meeting lasted about 3 hours from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. WIB. Subsequently, President Prabowo accompanied Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s departure in the same car to Halim Airport,” said press secretary Teddy as quoted by BPMI’s presidential secretary, as reported by ANTARA on Friday, March 27.
Teddy explained that the meeting, held at Istana Merdeka in Jakarta, was warm and reflected the personal closeness of the two leaders.
“The atmosphere of the meeting was warm. In this warm conversation, the two came together for the Islamic New Year and discussed geopolitical dynamics in West Asia, as well as various strategic topics of common concern,” said Teddy.
According to him, the intensity of the three-hour discussion demonstrated the depth of dialogue between the two leaders in response to the ongoing global situation.
The personal closeness between President Prabowo and Prime Minister Anwar was also evident until the end of the meeting, including when both left the palace for the airport in a vehicle.
This meeting is part of efforts to maintain bilateral communication and coordination amid dynamic global geopolitical challenges.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Anwar’s visit to Jakarta also strengthened the close ties between Indonesia and Malaysia, in the context of intergovernmental relations and proximity between leaders.
The government views intensive dialogues like this one as important for enhancing strategic cooperation and aligning viewpoints in the face of various regional and global issues.
