The Meinau stadium belongs to all Alsatians, you are at home here, Marc Keller declared while welcoming the Alsace section of the UJSF in the lounges of the south stand.
Coming to the Meinau, where the heart of Alsatian sports beats, whether you like football or not, with 32,000 spectators coming from all over Alsace to every match and over 70 closed ticket windows in this ultra-modern facility where our press box is located, makes sense, explained Sébastien Keller, the president of the Alsace section, enthusiastically.
“To produce quality, sourced, and verified content, we need ourselves more than ever,” said Sébastien Keller. The Alsatian section, which works daily to provide journalists with good working conditions, currently has 105 members in 2025-2026, a record since the creation of the Union in 1958, including 20% women, representing 28 media outlets.
“We want to reaffirm the role and missions that are entrusted to us in a context where the sacred space of professional journalists is increasingly encroached upon by a population that settles without much concern for us, including influencers, YouTubers, and other Instagrammers, not to mention the rise of Artificial Intelligence,” emphasized Sébastien Keller. “To produce quality, sourced, and verified content, we need ourselves more than ever, therefore the Union, to defend our place in a press box or among sports stakeholders. I must also mention here that discussions with Racing are always conducted in good intelligence.”
The Alsace section was in the spotlight a year ago with the organization of the 66th national congress in Strasbourg. “Our section was able to mobilize to make this congress a real success,” added the president, who will lead a delegation of 5 people to the upcoming national congress of Châtelaillon, near La Rochelle.
The most visible action of the UJSF’s work remains, since 1972, the election of the athlete of the year, a highlight in the media of Alsace on January 1st, with the winner Sarah Noutcha.
Sébastien Keller has been re-elected to lead the section for his 8th term. Cédric Cariou (DNA), Pierre Hugonin (L’Alsace), and Marc Wilb (L’Alsace) were also re-elected to the board of directors for four years.
After the debates, Marc Keller had a very rich exchange with sports journalists, sharing openly and without taboo. The Racing president expressed his happiness while visiting the south stand. Joffrey Voltzenlogel, a knowledgeable person in Racing’s history and now responsible for the museum and heritage, then guided the sports journalists through the Stadium Tour, a new museum tour inaugurated on March 5th. It was a beautiful moment of emotion and sharing.
