The Loir-et-Cher International Garden Festival rolls out the red carpet this year in Chaumont-sur-Loire. From April 22, the public will be treated to a unique spectacle featuring cinematic sequences, soundtracks, sensory projections, 3D screens, and improbable settings. This year, 25 to 30 new gardens created by designers from around the world will be on display, each more inspiring and creative than the last. Lights, camera, action!
Artists, landscapers, and nurseries from France and abroad are hard at work creating the contemporary gardens that visitors will be able to explore from April 22 to November 1. Festival director Chantal Colleu-Dumond promises a dreamy and enchanting experience, with this year’s theme immersing visitors in the world of cinema. The gardens will reflect the visual styles of iconic films and genres, offering a unique and immersive experience for all visitors.
In addition to the 19 competition gardens, four “green cards” have been awarded to personalities from the film industry to create their own garden concepts at the festival. Sabine Azéma, Mélanie Laurent, Momoko Seto, and another mystery guest will bring their creative visions to life in the gardens. These unique designs will offer visitors a glimpse into the beauty of nature and the magic of cinema.
The festival also features a season of art exhibitions showcasing various artists and their creations, blending historical heritage with contemporary art. From Marc Desgrandchamps’ haunting paintings to Janine Thüngen-Reichenbach’s tree imprints, the artistic offerings at Chaumont-sur-Loire are diverse and thought-provoking. The festival aims to bridge the gap between traditional culture and modern artistic expressions, creating a rich tapestry of experiences for all visitors.
Regional President François Bonneau highlights the importance of supporting culture in times of budget cuts, emphasizing the need to preserve and promote artistic endeavors. With the upcoming Max Ernst event in the fall, the festival continues to be a beacon of creativity and inspiration for all who attend.
