The Quai des Mondes festival, organized by the Quai des dunes association, is back this weekend at the La Rivière cinema in Hôtel. After focusing on Czech culture in 2025, this year’s theme is Italy, a renowned country in cinema. However, the goal is to broaden horizons beyond just cinema, including other arts and culture. The festival kicks off this Friday, March 27 with a parade from Place Pasteur to the cinema (5:30 pm), followed by the screening of the film “Lilisa” in preview (6:35 pm) and an Italian dinner event (registration required).
A rich program awaits attendees on Saturday, March 28, with workshops, conferences, book signings, exhibitions, and screenings starting from 10 am (“Not for Dogs and Italians,” “The Lost World,” “A Chiara,” “Vivaldi and Me”).
The schedule includes: at 10:30 am, a Pinocchio workshop (free), at 11 am a conference on Garibaldi and an introduction to stop-motion, at 2:30 pm a mosaic workshop for adults and children (€10, registration required), and at 4 pm, a musical journey on European music enchanted by Italy (free). On Sunday, March 29, there will be a tiramisu workshop at 10:30 am and a pasta making session at 2:30 pm. Film showings include “The Seagull and the Cat” at 10:30 am, “Cirque Secondi” at 2:30 pm, “Three Goodbyes” at 5 pm, and “The Clog Tree” at 8 pm.
For more information, visit the La Rivière cinema website at cinemalariviere.org. The ticket price is €6 for all films, including previews, and €4.50 for children.
(Context note: The Quai des Mondes festival celebrates different countries each year through cinema and other cultural events.) (Fact Check note: The festival takes place in Hôtel, not in a hotel.)
