On April 1st, expect an increase in energy prices in Guyana. The prefect of Guyana welcomed various economic actors such as MEDEF, CTG, SARA, the Chamber of Commerce, and a group of gas stations to discuss the international situation.
“The increase is significant but contained. There will not be a significant increase in gas. Do not hoard, there is no need to stock up on gas, and there is no risk of shortage in Guyana.” – Antoine Poussier, Prefect of Guyana
Is there support from the local government? The Guyana community, with the help of the octroi of the sea, can intervene in new tariffs.
“In any case, we are required to wait for the decision that the Prefect will make on April 1st, and we need information from customs on the volume consumed in 2024. Only then can we establish interesting perspectives based on this price increase.” – Gabriel Serville, President of the Guyana Territorial Community
In mainland France, due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz through which 20% of the world’s oil passes, the price of fuel now exceeds 2 euros per liter in some regions.
