The preparations are well underway for the organization of the Gars du Reun international cadets basketball tournament. This year, the major change will be in the date change. Usually held over the Easter weekend, it will actually take place on Friday, May 22, Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24.
The tournament will bring together eight teams of young boys born in 2008, 2009, and 2010. “The teams can come from Martinique, Belgium, or London. Of course, we can count on the presence of the title holders, the Angers team. Once again, a team will be composed of local players from a few clubs in Finistère. We are currently looking for new partners for our tournament, which often brings together more than a thousand spectators for the final,” announces Benjamin Le Normand, tournament coordinator.
A contest on Saturday and one on Sunday
During the weekend, the public can also attend a dunk contest on Saturday, and another three-point shooting contest on Sunday, just before the final phases which are expected to start at 4 p.m.
The first matches will take place from Friday 22, with two games, which is also a change. “This new evening will help lighten the program for the other two days. And it will also allow for an evening of conviviality with the participants, players, coaches, referees, and volunteers!” explains the organizer.
