Claude Ferrandi, the president of Sporting Club de Bastia, and Jean-Louis Constant, the director of security of the club, were questioned this week by the investigator in the SCB-Boulogne case, at the disciplinary committee of the LFP.
Prefectural services and public security are expected to be heard by Friday. Following the match on Friday, March 13, and the 1-0 defeat of Sporting, around a hundred supporters entered the parking lot of the Armand-Cesari stadium, north stand, and gathered in front of the Bastian team’s locker room and club offices. The situation remained tense but peaceful, without police intervention, until midnight.
Apart from the ongoing investigation and pending the final report on April 8, the club is considering appealing to the French national Olympic and sports committee, deeming the interim measures of closed-door matches and matches on neutral ground disproportionate.
The club’s leadership especially wants to emphasize that, contrary to what was suggested in tweets on the night of the match, no supporters actually entered the stadium offices. However, this information was included in the disciplinary committee’s statement, partly justifying the initial measures. The decision to appeal to the CNOSF may be made within the next 24 hours.
Additionally, the club is touring approved stadiums in France for the match against Amiens on April 3. The Francis-Turcan stadium in Martigues is facing challenges. Out of around 40 available stadiums, half are naturally occupied by the home team. For the other half, between availability and costs, Sporting is considering its options. One of the stadiums under consideration is Jean-Laville stadium in Gueugnon, where Martigues played last year, awaiting upgrades to meet regulations.
Other possibilities have been explored, such as Charléty stadium in Paris, but the club is carefully evaluating all expenses, including transportation, accommodation, and rental costs. A decision is likely to be made by Thursday evening.
