The Hezbollah said it carried out attacks against the Israeli army advancing on the border area and launched new strikes on Wednesday in the southern suburbs of Beirut and the south of the country.

The pro-Iranian group claimed to have targeted Israeli troops “massed in the border towns of Naqoura and Qawzah,” as well as several sites along the border “with over 100 rockets.”

The group also claimed a series of attacks on northern Israeli towns, including Kiryat Shmona, which did not result in any casualties according to Israeli authorities.

Israeli Defense Minister Israël Katz stated on Tuesday that Israeli forces were “maneuvering inside Lebanese territory to seize an advanced defense line” up to the Litani River, about 30 kilometers from the border.

At the same time, the Israeli air force conducted a strike on the southern suburb of the capital during the night, as reported by the National News Agency (ANI).

Israel had ordered residents of seven neighborhoods in this southern suburb, considered a Hezbollah stronghold, to evacuate in anticipation of military actions.

An AFP correspondent saw a street littered with debris, pieces of cement, twisted metal, and a damaged apartment after a morning strike on Wednesday.

Since Lebanon was drawn into the regional war on March 2, Israel has been bombing the southern suburbs of Beirut, emptied of most of its inhabitants who have fled.

Israeli air strikes have killed more than 1,000 people and displaced over a million individuals, according to authorities.
