Olympe explains why he stayed away from the stage
The Voice has seen many successful singers over the years. After a first season won by Stéphane Rizon, the show hosted by Nikos Aliagas returned to TF1 for a second round featuring Louane Emera, Fanny Leeb, Nadja, Luc Arbogast, and Olympe. Joffrey Boulanger, whose real name is, managed to impress all four coaches during the blind auditions by singing Lana Del Rey’s “Born to Die.” The day after his performance on The Voice, his cover rose to the top of the iTunes sales chart. Despite being a favorite, he ultimately lost to Yoann Fréget, but that didn’t stop him from pursuing a music career. Since his time on The Voice, Olympe has released four albums, including “Une vie par jour.”
Olympe reveals why he took a break from the stage
Olympe’s latest album, “Press Play,” came out four years ago. The thirty-year-old singer has been relatively quiet in recent years and recently shared the reason for his sudden absence from the music scene. In an Instagram post on March 23, he wrote, “I worked with someone who promised me the world, believed in me. Then, I discovered another reality.” Without revealing the person’s identity, Olympe shared how they told him he was no longer wanted on TV, that he should hide behind a piano, that he was too big, and should find a job as a waiter. He later found out that his agent and partner preferred to focus on another artist they considered as a sister. Despite these challenges, Olympe is determined to keep singing.
Olympe: why the singer from The Voice decided to speak out
Now a father to a young daughter, Olympe went further in his revelations, saying, “They went as far as giving a fake number to programmers so that opportunities would never reach me, telling false stories about me to industry folks.” Consequently, Olympe was “pushed aside” while other artists were prioritized. According to the former Voice contestant, his former agent’s actions continue to impact his career. Speaking out, Olympe emphasized that such behaviors still exist and can derail careers. Despite facing setbacks, Olympe remains committed to his passion for music.
