The ultra-trail is set to be a significant challenge across 13 municipalities. Over 1,500 runners will take on four courses, involving 200 volunteers, to celebrate sports and heritage between Cahors and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie.

Organized by the Extrapédestres club, this first ultra-trail will take place on Friday 27, Saturday 28, and Sunday 29 March. A very athletic program awaits competitors with four running distances and a hike on the agenda.

The kickoff will take place from Friday at 11 p.m. at the Valentré bridge in Cahors, for the 125 km Grand Trail des Cadourques. On Saturday, the Saint-Cirq 65 km will start at 8 a.m. from Mas de Sabot à Vers.

Two other races are scheduled for Sunday: at 8 a.m. from Mas de Sabot à Vers, starting from the Divona 30 km, then at 9:30 a.m. from the 15 km Valentré. A hike open to all will complete the program with a start at 9 a.m. from the Valentré center.

In total, 1,500 competitors are already lined up at the starting lines of this inaugural ultra-trail organized by the Extrapédestres. The club’s president, Gilles Cluzet, emphasizes the importance of this new national sporting event: “The Grand Trail des Cadourques will mobilize over 200 volunteers, particularly for the markings and other refreshment points. The routes mainly follow the Lot valley downstream to Luzech, and upstream to Saint-Cirq-Lapopie. The Mas de Sabot à Vers estate is a real hub for runners with refreshments, care, massages, rest, etc. We have involved the thirteen municipalities through which the trail passes, which make their facilities available to us…” On Saturday evening, a festive meal is planned at the sports village, in the Valentré center in Cahors. This major trail event aims to showcase the beautiful landscapes and richness of the heritage of the Lot valley. It will attract more than 3,000 people to our region. Partners have shown their support, including hotels, restaurants, businesses, and of course the Department and the city of Cahors.
