They are running faster and mastering the game techniques with assurance. This is partly thanks to the work of the National Union of School Sports (UNSS), which organizes competitions throughout France every year.
The championship of France high school girls excellence in football is currently taking place in Poitiers, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. In other words, for three days, eleven teams from all over France are competing to secure their place in the final, which will be played on Thursday, March 26, at 2 p.m. at the Michel-Amand stadium in Buxerolles.
Very young referees
The team that becomes French champion will most likely be selected to represent our country at the international games in China in October 2026. A great reward for the lucky ones who, in the meantime, have to prove themselves on the pitch at the Saint-Nicolas stadium in Poitiers and the Andr&-et-Pierre-Jarasson stadium in Migné-Auxances.
La Vienne will not be represented, as the team from Ch&tellerault was beaten by the team from Marguerite-de-Valois high school in Angoulême during the academy championship.
Female high school referees were also invited to officiate on the field, like a young girl from Ferdinand-Clovis-Pin Middle School. Her level of refereeing allowed her to join the best.
Creating vocations
Coaches from the district were present, as were about fifteen PE teachers made available by the academy. “They do not just practice in the school environment but also in clubs, says Loïc Laurent, departmental director of UNSS 86. UNSS creates vocations by allowing each child to determine a project with their family.”
According to the director, these meetings also help convey the values of sport such as “excellence, commitment, team spirit, and self-transcendence.” In any case, on the field, the young girls behaved exemplarily despite the pressure of the game.
