On Friday, March 27, 2026 at 8:30 pm, the Palais des Congrès Cap d’Agde Mediterranée will host “La Veuve rusée,” a comedy by Carlo Goldoni reimagined in an elegant and contemporary setting.
With a duration of 1 hour and 45 minutes and suitable for ages 12 and up, the show promises a vibrant and cheerful immersion into the games of love and power.
On stage, a prestigious cast will include Caterina Murino, Sarah Biasini, Vincent Deniard, Vincent Desagnat, Thierry Harcourt, Tom Leeb, and Pierre Rochefort, with the exceptional vocal participation of Jean Reno. The adaptation and staging are by Giancarlo Marinelli, assisted by Aline Gaillot, with a translation by Valerio Zaina.
The plot transports us to Venice, where Rosaura, a rich and attractive widow, is courted by four suitors from different backgrounds: an Englishman, a Frenchman, a Spaniard, and an Italian. They all enlist the help of the mischievous Arlequin to win her heart. Indecisive, Rosaura, with the assistance of her loyal companion Marionnette, devises a scheme to reject her admirers. But in Venice, love always holds surprises.
Enhanced by scenography by Fabiana Di Marco, costumes from Stefano Nicolao’s Venetian workshop, and lighting by Didier Brun, the play skillfully blends humor, romance, and reflection on female liberty. Between misunderstandings, tricks, and matters of the heart, “La Veuve rusée” establishes itself as an entertaining yet thought-provoking work, where a woman aims to control her destiny.
Produced by Arts Live Entertainment and Fimalac Culture, in collaboration with several European theatrical institutions, this adaptation confirms Goldoni’s timeless modernity and offers audiences an evening filled with laughter and elegance.
