Giovani Versini, a small offensive midfielder from Marseille, has been called up by coach Gérald Baticle to join the French national team to replace Jean-Matto Bahoya (Eintracht Frankfurt), Sidiki Chérif (Fenerbahçe SK), Mamadou Diakhon (Cercle Bruges KSV), and Senny Mayulu (Paris SG), who have all had to withdraw from the squad for various reasons.
Having shone for Pau FC with 9 goals and 4 assists in 27 matches during his Ligue 2 debut, Versini’s journey started at Marseille before moving to Clermont. He spent the 2023-2024 season at Bourgoin Jallieu, where he played 15 games and scored one goal.
Following a spell at Châteauroux, the former player for Clermont Foot settled in Béarn last summer, where he impressed.
