On Friday, March 27th, there will be a special event at the Cinémoviking in Saint-Lô: the Back To the Bobine film club and the Nanarland website are organizing a “nanar” evening.

The evening of March 27th will be dedicated to the screening of the film “Le Dernier Dragon”, a kung-fu film from the 80s produced by Motown, the music label of artists like the Jackson Five, The Pointer Sisters, and Stevie Wonder.

According to the film club, “Le Dernier Dragon” tells the story of Leroy, a young shy and innocent black man who is skilled in martial arts. A megalomaniac producer and a dim-witted gang leader, the “Shogun of Harlem”, kidnap the woman of his dreams.

Nanar cinema is a unique world where films are never predictable. They are often serious at their core, which is what makes them interesting for some viewers.

President of Back To the Bobine, Bastien Marie, explains, “These are failed films with little budget but huge ambitions, creating a comedic gap. They are so bad that they become cult and entertaining.”

The film “Le Dernier Dragon” will be shown with French voices, which Bastien considers to make the work even funnier due to the approximate dubbing.

The evening will not only focus on “Le Dernier Dragon”, but also include a quiz and a compilation of the best of the worst of cinema.

The night will conclude with a social gathering and is expected to end around 11:30 pm.
