The Saiguède Books and Local Products Fair, fully supported by the municipality, was held on Sunday, March 8. Between local culture and regional products, this event marked a turning point in the life of the village.

The second edition of this event was carried out by three individuals: Françoise Barthe, Claudette Seres, and Marc Bouhours. The opening of the fair at 11 am had a special dimension with the presence of Catherine Ortega, the mayor of Saiguède, who completes a thirty-year term of service to the community. On this occasion, symbolic gifts were presented to her to salute her dedication.

Despite a more modest turnout compared to 2025, hindered by rain and the end of school holidays, the quality was still there. Eleven self-published authors, all locally based, with a slight dominance of those from Gers! Three publishers, a children’s book illustrator, two watercolorists, two painters, a cartoonist, a Murano glass bead creator, a stamp ink maker, and the Savès Heritage association were selling their publications (Saiguède is a member of Savès). “Côté papille,” local producers, offered pastries, duck, wine, beer, honey, jams, and spices from Togo to complement this diversity. A successful mix of genres supported by active promotion on Radio Coteaux in Saint-Blancard and an article published in the local newspaper on February 25.

With a lower turnout compared to 2025, likely due to rain, the end of holidays, or the gloomy international climate, the day was characterized by “good humor, exchanges, and sharing.”

The organizers now wish to pass the baton. “We do not wish to redo the fair but leave it to the associations of Saiguède who can continue to make it thrive with the full support of the municipality. We hope it will continue to live on and prosper. Thank you again to Madam the mayor for her warm welcome and unwavering support for the Books and Local Products Fair.”
