According to a statement from the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization, “no leakage of radioactive materials has been reported” in the area of the nuclear complex located in the center of the country. The United States and Israel carried out strikes on the Iranian nuclear complex in Natanz on Saturday, March 21, as reported by the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization in a statement distributed by the Tasnim news agency. The Iranian organization declared, “Following the criminal attacks carried out by the United States and the usurping Zionist regime against our country, the Natanz enrichment facility was targeted this morning.” They also stated that “no leakage of radioactive materials has been reported” in the area.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was informed by Iran that the Natanz nuclear site had been attacked on Saturday and is currently “examining this information.” Rafael Grossi, the Director-General of the Agency, further “reiterated his call for military restraint to avoid any risk of a nuclear accident.”

The primary Iranian uranium enrichment site, Natanz, located approximately 220 kilometers southeast of the capital, Tehran, had already been hit in the first week of the conflict, with several buildings damaged according to satellite images. Following this strike, the IAEA stated that “no radiological consequences” were expected.

In June 2025, this nuclear complex was already targeted by Israeli and American strikes during the Twelve-Day War. The nuclear facilities of Fordo and Isfahan were also targeted at that time.

Launching the offensive against Iran at the end of February, Donald Trump had among the objectives to eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat, as Western countries suspected the Islamic Republic of seeking to acquire nuclear weapons, which it denied.

Three weeks after the start of the war, the American president mentioned on Friday the prospect of an end to the conflict. “We are about to achieve our goals,” he stated on his Truth Social network, adding that he is considering “gradually reducing” American military efforts against the “Iranian terrorist regime.”
