The festival Culture & vous, co-constructed by the City and the MJC, announces the arrival of spring. It also launches the new cultural season of the city, traditionally the first highlight, described by Marie-Lou Lajus, deputy mayor, as having “a specific level and a really interesting diversity. It welcomes everyone in the programming: young people, amateurs, regulars, professionals.”

The 2026 edition will start this Wednesday, March 25th, at 3 pm, with a private preview visit of the Patrick Chappert-Gaujal exhibition at the contemporary art space. Although free, this visit requires a reservation with the City’s Culture service at 04 68 65 09 10.

The festival’s principle is free entry, offering the public the chance to discover amateur or professional artists in various fields: theater, dance, music, poetry, and visual arts. From Thursday at 6 pm until Sunday, performances will take place at the Palais des congrès and/or at the cinema Pierre Richard, including Cigalopop for an acoustic concert, local amateur theater, the MJC café-theater troupe, dancers from GV de la Tour, singer Gabriel Richard, theater by Montpellier’s Triangle company and Atrios company, poetry with Clémence Adam, concert by the municipal music school, “le bal poussiére,” Ousseni Sako and friends’ captivating rhythms, a showcase of young talents, and finally on Sunday at 5:15 pm, a concert by 50 choristers accompanied by professional musicians.

The Bistro will be open for meals with local products, and various workshops accessible to all and intergenerational will be offered. Comfort stones, comics, podcasts, sculpting, amulets, portrait photos, and puppets will delight both children and adults. A participative mural will conclude this festival, which also includes painting and photography exhibitions, including Objectif jeune, a competition for young people aged 12 to 25. Lastly, Cabanatroc will provide the opportunity to exchange art objects, paintings, sculptures, and photos.
