The National Music Center (CNM) has released a report on the sales of French-language musical productions internationally in 2025. Rap, electro, afro, and pop are at the top of the list.

Sales of French musical productions abroad were driven in 2025 by new releases, especially in rap and electro genres, as well as timeless hits like those of Daft Punk, the National Music Center announced Thursday. These export performances are expressed through diamond, platinum, and gold certifications, representing different levels of physical and digital sales.

In total, 758 singles and 57 albums from 440 artists received certifications, with certified tracks generating 50 billion equivalent streams, over 5 billion from new releases. These results are based on information provided by labels. While they are not obligated to provide their data, they are increasingly doing so, according to the CNM.

The dominance of rap

These data reflect the dynamic international influence of French and foreign artists’ productions, facilitated by a French entity. In 2025, 136 new singles or albums were certified for export, representing 17% of the total. The most streamed songs are predominantly in the rap (Gazo, Tiakola), electro, afro, and pop (Zaho de Sagazan) genres.

French album “Melodrama” by Theodora and Disiz, amassed 271 million streams globally in 2025 and achieved success even in Denmark, as noted by the CNM. Other top streamed songs include “Overdrive” by Parisian duo Offenbach, “Ninao” by Gims, and “Money Pull Up” featuring Martinique stars Maureen and Blaiz Fayah.

Timeless Daft Punk

In addition to recent hits, older tracks of more than three years (back catalogue) from the 2000s and 2010s have gained significant popularity outside of France, as highlighted by the CNM. This list includes iconic electro duo Daft Punk with “Around the World,” as well as Aya Nakamura, Zaz, and Carla Bruni.
