To best prepare for the upcoming football season, Olympique Lyonnais will return to training at the end of June.

It has been nearly a week since OL concluded their 2025-2026 season in 4th place in Ligue 1, after a heavy defeat against Lens at the Groupama Stadium (0-4). While some players, like captain Corentin Tolisso, will take a month off to decompress, others, like Pavel Sulc and Moussa Niakhaté, will begin preparations for the World Cup on American soil.

After a relatively positive season in terms of sports performance, Paulo Fonseca’s men now have their eyes set on the next season, where they will aim to do better. And for that, they will need to secure their spot in the regular phase of the Champions League, as the Gones only qualified for the 3rd preliminary round.

Training Resumes on June 29

Official competition is set to resume at the beginning of August. However, Lyon’s summer preparation will start much earlier, on June 29 at the Groupama OL Training Center. A few days later, on July 8, OL is expected to face Mâcon (N3) in a friendly match according to Olympique et Lyonnais. Other rumors also mention a second game against GOAL FC on July 11.

One thing is certain, they cannot overlook the preparation, as big challenges await the Gones at the start of the 2026-2027 season.
