Twenty years of a career. It has been two decades since Christophe Willem was enthroned in La Nouvelle Star. Since his victory on M6, the 42-year-old artist has come a long way, released hits, and seems more fulfilled than ever today. As he prepares to celebrate his twenty-year career with the release of a new album scheduled for October 2026 and a tour in 2027, he has also released a new single, “Systaime,” on Friday, May 22.
“Why did Christophe Willem move to Brazil?” An eventful news that led our colleagues from Le Parisien to interview the singer affectionately nicknamed “the tortoise” since his early days in the music industry. Speaking to the regional newspaper journalists, Christophe Willem shared about the big dream he recently fulfilled: moving to Brazil! A radical change of life that led the “Double je” interpreter to sell his home in Val d’Oise, near Paris.
“You shouldn’t just be a spectator of your life,” began the singer with the atypical voice in Le Parisien before revealing his passion for this Portuguese-speaking country of South America: “I love this country. I dreamed of having a house there. At one point, I made the decision.” To make this dream come true, he spared no means, even if it meant being misunderstood by his loved ones: “I sold my beautiful house in Val-d’Oise, in Deuil-la-Barre. I took a smaller apartment here, which allowed me to buy another one there. I realized this dream.”
“Among my circle, people didn’t understand,” Christophe Willem admits, even though he carefully thought about his major life change. Despite the criticisms, he chose to trust himself and continue to assert himself, as he explained in his interview with Le Parisien: “Suddenly, I decided to trust myself and not be afraid.” A life change that seems to delight him as he now divides his time between France and Brazil.
“Why did Christophe Willem refuse to be a coach on The Voice Kids?” In an interview with Ciné Télé Revue last March, Christophe Willem explained that he had been approached by the production of a famous television show: “Yes, I had already been approached for The Voice Kids, in the early seasons,” he said before confirming that he had turned down the offer. “I declined because I didn’t feel comfortable coaching children. At that time, I saw the program as a factory for making stars.”
Despite these initial apprehensions, he is not averse to changing his opinion, as he specified to Belgian media: “Maybe one day, I will be tempted. I don’t close the door,” he concluded. Now, we wait to see what the future holds for Christophe Willem…
